The Magic of Male Voice
The massed choirs at Rugby School
On Saturday 30th October, Wigston and District Male Voice Choir presented ‘The Magic of Male Voice’ at the Temple Speech Rooms at Rugby School. All proceeds from the concert were to be donated to Cancer Research UK.
The massed male voice choirs from Dore(South Yorkshire), Pelenna Valley (South Wales), Rugby (Warwickshire) and Wigston (Leicestershire) came together with guest soloists Michelle Martin and Chris Hill to provide a wonderful evening of close harmony and entertainment.
The choirs sang songs which included items as diverse as Nessun Dorma, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Myfanwy and There is Nothin’ Like a Dame. Their final rendition of ‘You'll never walk alone’ was extremely moving.
The Temple Speech Room in Rugby School is a magnificent Hall with great acoustics. The concert was a complete sell out and whole evening was a truly sparkling occasion.
The evening closed with Jan Gaskell chair of Charnwood Branch if Cancer Research UK being asked to give a short talk on the work of the charity and to thank all concerned.
The evening raised £4,300.
