Welcome to the Market Harborough Fundraising Group
We launched our Group in 2010 and in our first year we concentrated on raising funds for research into breast cancer. Our Founder, Patricia Williams, sadly lost her daughter Lissa in 2007 to breast cancer. Lissa was just 36 years old. Patricia involved her family and friends in fundraising for Cancer Research UK and encourages us all to help her with different events.
Patricia has raised money to fund research into all cancers over several years organising a team to take part in the Cancer Research UK Relay For Life Leicester for three years, running coffee mornings, having stalls at events in Lubenham, organising raffles, bag packing in Sainsbury’s Market Harborough to name but a few.

In 2010 the main event was a sponsored walk around Market Harborough. 125 walkers took part on 17 October 2010 and the sum raised was in excess of £7,000. With the guidance and help of Debbie Fitzgerald, Area Volunteer manager for Cancer Research UK we have started to organise another walk for 2011 called Market Harborough’s Pink & Blue Walk For All. The walkers that sign up will be able to decide if their fundraising is spent in research to female cancers, male cancer or all cancers.
We are hoping to attract more volunteer helpers and more walkers so that we can continue to raise more to help research into cancer. We will be delighted to welcome anyone who wishes to join us helping to promote and publicise the walk and/or take part on the day.
